Australia![]() |
Aboriginal settlers from Southeast Asia have been living in the
continent long before the first Europeans began exploration in the
17th century. No formal territorial claims were made until 1770, when Capt. James COOK took possession in the name of Great Britain. Six colonies were created in the late 18th and 19th centuries; they federated and became the Commonwealth of Australia in 1901. |

Our Ministry:
|
The work in Australia commenced in 1949 by American missionaries Rev. & Mrs. VF Anderson along with Miss Evelyn Lundell. Good News clubs was one of the basic ministries begun. The work quickly spread to Queensland and Victoria and later was operating in all Australian States with hundreds of GNCs, 5 Day clubs, party clubs and training for children workers and volunteers. During the 1990s the work declined, but has recently started to increase. On May 19th 2001, Rev. Edgar Schroeder was commissioned as the National Director of CEF Australia. They have resigned. Different training ministries are being conducted to equip children’s teachers, including a Webworld Teacher Training for those who have questions about reaching children. Promotionals during conferences in churches and Bible colleges as well as partnerships with AWANA, Jesus Video and the 2003 Year of the Child have yielded encouraging results. |
