Training Updates in the Region Apr-Jun 2005
What a great year of training this has
been in just the first three months. It
started in Myanmar with a Teaching
Children EffectivelyTM (TCETM) Level 1.
Many have been trained, and many
children are being reached.
From Myanmar it was off to Indonesia.
There were four courses that I helped
with in four places. The first course
was an Instructor Of Teachers (IOT)
Course 1 with 31 students from all
around Indonesia. Two Leadership
training instructors as well as four LTI
candidates taught. I was
supervising —
what a joy to see
so many people
being trained.
Then it was TCE
2 with 39
students in
Banten. A great
class to train students to know how to
reach saved children. There was another
class in Biak with 15 students who were
so excited to have the training. The day
of the Good News Club® (GNCTM)
demonstration, we went to a Saturday
afternoon GNC. There were so many
children that half sat on the porch and the
other half sat inside the house. We stood
in the doorway to be able to teach both
rooms of children. They brought
their Bibles, and what joy to
see them using their Bibles
and following the
teaching.
Then it was off to
Manado for another TCE1.
Again a big class of
30 students who faithfully
came and did their
practicums. One of the
students was a lecturer
and gave testimony of how God worked
in her heart to teach the children,
especially as she listened to the
Importance of the Teacher. Another was
a DR, who just received a new
assignment to work with children. He
gave a testimony of how he had such a
burden for
these children
as he looked at
them with their
physical
problems. He
thought
there must be
more he can
do. He came
to class and
excitedly exclaimed "now I know
what I can do. I can carry the
Wordless book with me all the time,
and as I help them physically I can
also share the message of salvation
with them. They need far more than
just physical healing."
Praise the Lord for 115 teachers trained
in a short time in Indonesia.
Instructors were also trained and
supervised in each class. During this
time, Maura, the National Director was
in the hospital and very
ill. We need to continue
to pray for her. Also, one
of the staff from the
National Office lost a
parent, and my father
went to be with the Lord.
God was faithful to help
us through the many
challenges.
From Indonesia I went to Singapore for
two more TCE 1 Courses. I was
supervising six students from the institute
last summer. We had a daytime class and
an evening class to meet the needs of
those who work. The morning finished
with ten students and the evening with
four! Yes, it has been exciting weeks
because so many teachers have been
trained, and that means that more
children will have the opportunity to hear
of Jesus and of salvation. Thank you for
praying. To God be the glory!
Please pray for preschool courses in
Hong Kong and Korea, and TCE 1 & 2
in Tonga in the weeks ahead.
